AI & SubFab

Supporting the AI build-out from the ground up.

Every AI accelerator and every stack of high-bandwidth memory is made in a fab and finished in an assembly plant. We help bring that capacity up in India, and we bring AI into the fab's own operations.

Why it matters

AI runs on chips, and chips run on fabs

Demand for AI computing has made fab capacity, advanced packaging and memory some of the scarcest resources in technology. Governments and companies are adding capacity in more places, India among them.

Each new fab is only as productive as the systems around it. Faster ramps, higher yield and fewer unplanned stops all decide how much of that capacity actually reaches the market. That is where we focus.

SubFab AI optimisation

The infrastructure beneath the cleanroom carries a third of the cost and very little intelligence.

Process tools have had decades of fault detection and yield analytics. The chemical supply, mixing, scrubbing, neutralisation and water systems that feed and treat them mostly run on calendar maintenance and manual sampling.

30–40%

of fab operating cost originates in subfab infrastructure

<10%

of subfab assets have AI-enabled real-time monitoring

60%

of unplanned downtime traces back to infrastructure rather than process tools

25%

potential emissions reduction from smarter abatement

What it does

Measured, predictable and audit-ready, without replacing tools

Through our partnership with Modutek, we bring an AI layer that works across the existing subfab installed base.

Predictive maintenance

Pumps, valves, heaters and seals are monitored continuously and serviced before they fail, not on a fixed calendar.

Continuous chemistry monitoring

Chemistry drift is tracked in real time instead of between manual checks, closing a gap that affects yield.

Abatement optimisation

Scrubbers and abatement systems are tuned to actual load, cutting emissions and utility use.

An audit trail by default

Emissions and effluent data are recorded continuously, ready for regulators and customers.

How to start

A 120-day pilot on one area of the subfab

We scope a pilot around one system, such as chemical delivery or abatement, agree the baseline and the measures of success up front, and report results against them at the end of 120 days.

AI also runs through our other work: yield and defect data strategy during ramp, and the data systems that come with KLA's yield management portfolio.
